Team Spotlight: Rachel Drysdale Director of Professional Standards

Tell us about your role at Kooyoora?

My role is Director, Professional Standards, alongside Katrina.

What inspired you to work at Kooyoora?

Advocating for vulnerable people has always been at the centre for me, and Kooyora’s values align beautifully with my sense of purpose.

What do you like most about working at Kooyoora?

Kooyoora’s investment in our staff is phenomenal and much more intentional than anything I’ve come across before.

What does a typical day in the office look like?

To be confirmed…

What is a hobby/interest you have outside of work?

My family would tell you that sleeping is my favourite hobby! I also enjoy reading, being outdoors and embarrassing my child by singing at every opportunity.

Coffee or tea?

Coffee.

If you had to describe yourself in three words, what would they be?

Curious, consistent, committed (that they all begin with C is purely coincidental!).

What’s the best place you’ve ever travelled to? Why?

Christchurch, where my husband and I drove across the mountains to the picturesque seaside town of Akaroa and visited a beach with volcanic sand. I also found the most amazing gluten free desserts at a market stall run by a Canadian in Christchurch.

Do you have any hidden talents?

I can recite the five regions of the spine and tell you how many vertebrae are in each… thank Year 12 P.E. for that!!

What is a fun fact about you?

At age 18, I delivered a stranger’s baby by the side of the road on the Gold Coast.

Cat or dogs?

Dogs. I have two, and they are beloved members of the family.

Would you rather Karaoke (solo) or part of a choir?

A choir. There’s something magical about voices joining together.

Do you have a favourite quote of motto?

“The standard you walk past is the standard you accept.” Lieutenant General David Morrison AO
