    Specifically, it involves:

    • Protecting children from abuse and maltreatment.

    • Preventing harm to children’s health or development.

    • Ensuring children grow up in an environment of safe and effective care.

    • Taking proactive steps to enable all children and young people to achieve the best possible outcomes.

Child protection is an integral part of the safeguarding process. It focuses on safeguarding individual children who are identified as either currently suffering or at risk of significant harm.

This includes detailed child protection procedures that guide responses to concerns about a child’s well-being.

  • • All individuals employed or engaged in voluntary work involving children and young individuals must prioritize their safety and well-being.

    • Self-employed individuals who interact with children and young people are accountable for implementing safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures.

    • Employees or volunteers affiliated with organisations must acquaint themselves with the respective safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures, recognizing signs of concern and knowing appropriate responses.

Kooyoora provides comprehensive guidance and service available to support individuals and organisations in safeguarding and child protection efforts, including identifying and addressing instances of abuse.

  • Safeguarding issue or Concerns refers to anything that could affect the safety and well-being of children and young people, potentially causing harm or putting them in danger.

It may involve a child or young person disclosing abuse or neglect, or you may observe signs of abuse or behaviors that concern you.

Additionally, safeguarding concerns encompass factors that could heighten the risk of harm, such as failing to adhere to safe recruitment procedures, inadequate supervision, or neglecting to conduct thorough risk assessments for both online and offline activities.

  • Children and young people may speak up or show signs if they are facing abuse or neglect.

They might express it directly or indirectly, such as through unusual behavior, writing a letter, or drawing a picture. However, sometimes they may not feel comfortable speaking out or may not realize that what's happening to them is abuse.

Consider broader aspects of the child's surroundings that could potentially endanger them.

This may involve apprehensions about unsafe procedures within an organization or at an event you're part of, observing inappropriate adult behavior around children, or concerns about the online content children are exposed to.
