National Child Protection Week (6-12 September 2026) is a reminder that keeping children and young people safe is a shared responsibility. Creating child-safe environments requires more than policies and procedures. It involves listening to children, recognising concerns early, responding appropriately and building cultures where safety and wellbeing are part of everyday practice. This year's theme, Every Conversation Matters: Shifting Conversation to Action, highlights the importance of turning awareness and discussion into meaningful steps that strengthen safety and wellbeing for children and families. As part of National Child Protection Week, Kooyoora has made the following pledge: "We pledge to put children and young people at the heart of all we do. To listen to children, believe them and act when something isn't right." To support this work, Kooyoora has launched a new Safeguarding Children and Young People resource page, bringing together practical information, guidance and tools to help strengthen child-safe cultures and practices. The page covers key safeguarding topics, including how to recognise and respond to concerns, the importance of listening to children and young people, and how to create child-safe environments. It features key articles, downloadable practical guides and actionable steps to help your organisation strengthen its safeguarding knowledge, practices and capacity.
